Photography biography - is displayed as your judging experence
I was born in the UK and began taking and developing black and white photos when I was 10 years old in school darkrooms.
Throughout a 25-year career in IT, I continued to photograph and film my travels, as well as my family and friends, using a variety of equipment, both analog and digital.
In 2003, I left my IT career and started John Miles Photography focusing on commercial, travel, and wedding photography, which soon became a well-loved successful business.
In 2010, I decided to emigrate from the busy and bustling UK to the peaceful and beautiful country of New Zealand, landing in Hawke's Bay.
In 2017, my partner Susan and I moved to Rotorua, where we purchased a Picture Framing Gallery. Over the course of five years, we turned it into a thriving Framing and Photography Gallery.
In 2022, we sold the business and relocated to Nelson/Tasman in the South Island. I am slowly winding down my professional photography work and enjoying a change to relaxed photography in many genres.
